Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Fried Code collects, uses, stores, and protects your information when you use the FC Accounting platform. We are committed to handling your data responsibly and transparently.
1. Information We Collect
Account and business information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, business name, country, and any other details you provide during onboarding (logo, bank account details, etc.).
Financial and transactional data
As part of the service, you enter invoices, quotations, client records, vendor details, expense entries, journal entries, and related financial information. This data belongs to you and is stored on your behalf.
Usage and technical data
We collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps. This helps us maintain security and improve the platform.
Communications
If you contact us via email or our support form, we retain those messages to help resolve your enquiry and improve our support.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and deliver the FC Accounting service.
- To process your subscription and send billing-related communications.
- To send transactional emails (verification and login codes, invoice notifications).
- To provide customer support and respond to your enquiries.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- To improve and develop the platform based on aggregated, anonymised usage patterns.
- To comply with our legal obligations.
We do not use your data for advertising purposes and we do not sell it to third parties.
3. Data Sharing
We share your information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Service providers — trusted vendors who help us operate the platform (hosting, transactional email, payment processing). These providers process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality obligations and may not use your data for their own purposes.
- Legal requirements — where we are required to disclose information by law, regulation, or court order.
- Business transfers — in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your data may be transferred to the successor entity subject to the same privacy protections described here.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on servers located in secure data centres. We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction — including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest where applicable.
No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. If we become aware of a breach that materially affects your data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account and financial data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we retain your data for 30 days, during which you may contact us to request a copy of your data, after which it is permanently deleted from our systems. We may retain certain records for longer where required by law (for example, financial audit trails).
6. Cookies
FC Accounting uses session cookies that are strictly necessary for authentication and security. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies. You cannot opt out of strictly necessary cookies without also opting out of the service itself.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct — update inaccurate information (most fields are editable directly in the app).
- Export — contact us to request a copy of your business data.
- Delete — request deletion of your account and associated data, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Object — raise concerns about processing you believe is unlawful.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at accounting@friedcode.au. We will respond within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
FC Accounting is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of FC Accounting after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
